The UQBT 1.0alpha Distribution

The University of Queensland Binary Translator (UQBT) framework is a static, retargetable (both input and output machine) system for experimentation with static binary translation across a variety of source and target machines.

The UQBT project was originally started at The University of Queensland, Australia, in 1996 under the direction of Cristina Cifuentes. Norman Ramsey provided design direction as well. Mike Van Emmerik provided implementation support throughout 1997-2001. During 1999-2001, the UQBT project was jointly done by by Sun Microsystems, Inc and The University of Queensland. This was due to Cristina joining Sun Microsystems Laboratories. Brian Lewis provided implementation support during 2000-2001. Several students have worked on the UQBT project throughout the years, some as students working a degree, others as summer scholars or interns.

The UQBT source code distribution is made available by Sun Microsystems, Inc, as part of the Walkabout project.
